Why do we see things differently with our two eyes?

Cup your palm over your left eye and look around you. You will see almost all objects that you will see with both your eyes open. But if you are in a room it will look much flatter and the relative position of the various objects in it will not be clear. Now open both your eyes and look again, you will see that the chair infront of the table and you will appreciate the depth of the rom. Our two eyes are set about 5 to 6 centimetres apart. Each eye gets a slightly different view of the scence infront. The two images are resolved in the brain to give us a picture that has depth. If we have only one eye, everything we looked around would be see flat.
